We wanted to inform you that we’ll be discontinuing the Shield service, which we've been offering for some time. When we launched it, our aim was to provide a viable alternative to Cloudflare at a reasonable price. However, despite our best efforts, we’ve found that the demand for such an alternative has not met our expectations. While we understand the appeal of free services, it’s important to recognize that free solutions can’t sustain our operations or our ability to support our team.
Running and maintaining a network at this scale is costly, and building and supporting the management infrastructure is an even bigger investment. Unfortunately, this means we are no longer able to continue offering the Shield service in its current form.
What’s Next: Transition to Reverse Proxy Service
In place of the Shield service, we’re transitioning most services to a new Reverse Proxy service. This service offers a simpler reverse proxy in front of your website, with core features like rate limiting, caching, and basic DDoS protection. It will have nodes in the Americas, Europe, and Asia, but it doesn't include the advanced configuration and firewall options of the old service.
Think of it as a more streamlined version of Shield, but at a lower cost, starting at just $5/month. We’re also automatically transferring all services to this new pricing model, so you’ll benefit from reduced costs right away.
Service Availability and Support
To ensure a smooth transition, the old system will remain operational with a reduced number of Points of Presence (PoPs) until the end of February, so you’ll still have access during the transition period.
We understand that changes like this can be inconvenient, and we’re here to help with any questions or concerns you may have. If you need assistance with the transition, feel free to reach out to our support team.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support. We’re committed to providing reliable and affordable services, and we believe this new direction will allow us to do just that.
